Frequently Asked Questions
About Us
Who are we?
When Glemco Parts, LLC, was founded in 2007 by a couple of engineers in St. Louis, Missouri, the company focused on importing agricultural, industrial, and outdoor power equipment parts for the U.S. market. Recognizing the need for combat-ready equipment for our Armed Forces, we sought to expand Glemco's successful retail and commercial footprint and offer our services to the U.S. government. In 2011, we relocated our main office to a location near the Patuxent River Naval Air Station in southern Maryland and became a registered U.S. government contractor in 2015. (CAGE code 7END6).
What do we do?
Glemco's technical team has deep expertise in materials engineering, manufacturing, and procurement, while our administrative team is skilled in managing projects from inception to fruition. Our state-of-the-art technology and dynamic business model enable us to efficiently fulfill complex government contracts while developing innovative strategies that deliver improvements across the supply chain.

Services
Why do you use reverse engineering?
It provides us with the ability to understand the function of a part and how to replicate it for maximum functionality.
How do you reverse engineer a part?
After obtaining the part, we laser scan the part for measurement. Then, we render the part for prototyping via 3D CAD software. Next, we validate the design and simulate its use in a virtual environment. Any changes are made prior to a single part being manufactured, which saves time and money.
What is an ITAR License?
The U.S. Department of State, through the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC) administers the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (22 CFR §§120-130), or “ITAR.” These regulations cover items and information that are inherently military in design, purpose, or use. Referred to as “defense articles,” these items are found on the U.S. Munitions List (USML). Defense articles include technical data recorded or stored in physical form, models, mockups, and other items that reveal technical data directly relating to USML items. ITAR also regulates other types of defense services, such as furnishing assistance, training, or technical data to non-U.S. persons. An ITAR license is an export license from the U.S. government for items with defense- or national security-related applications. The license may also be needed for items that have both commercial and military functions (called “dual-use” items). Exporting covered items without an ITAR license violates U.S. export control regulations and can lead to fines, imprisonment, and the denial of future export licenses.
Need an ITAR License? We Do the Heavy Lifting
If you are exporter or importer of military spare parts or dual-use items and applications, it’s critical to obtain an ITAR license. Not doing so can put you in legal jeopardy and you could face fines or imprisonment. Navigating the ITAR process, however, can be difficult and time-consuming. If all of the information on the application is in order, an ITAR license is typically issued in 30-60 days. But it can take much longer than two months to secure a license if the application isn’t completed correctly and the government requires additional information. That’s where the Glemco team can help. We’ve successfully secured hundreds of ITAR licenses and have helped our clients do the same. We start by determining whether your item requires an ITAR license. If it does, we collect all of the required information, ensure that the application is complete, file the application, and shepherd the application through the approval process. We keep you apprised of your application’s progress every step of the way. Take the next step. Complete the form below to get a free, no-obligation quote for our ITAR license service.
What is an (EAR) license?
The US Department of Commerce enforces the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) through the Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS). The EAR broadly governs and imposes controls on the export and re-export of most commercial goods, software, and technology, including 'dual-use' items that can be used both for commercial and military purposes and certain defense items. BIS guidance holds that, when data or software is uploaded to the cloud or transferred between user nodes, the customer, not the cloud provider, is the 'exporter' who has the responsibility to ensure that transfers of, storage of, and access to that data or software complies with the EAR
How to get an Export (EAR) license?
STEP 1 Determine if an item requires an export license: The first step is finding your item’s Export Control Classification Number (ECCN). ECCN entries are found on the Commerce Control List (CCL) and identify reasons for control which indicate licensing requirements to certain destinations. STEP 2 Get an ECCN for the item: 1. Contact the manufacturer, as they may know the ECCN of the item. 2. Self-classify the item by reviewing the Commerce Control List (CCL). 3. Submit an official commodity classification request to BIS electronically using SNAP-R. STEP 3 Apply for Export License: After you are registered with BIS, you may apply for an export license.
